A leading law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Immigration Attorney specializing in humanitarian immigration matters to join its team in San Juan, PR. Duties:
Explain complex immigration concepts and offer strategic legal solutions to clients
Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
Manage a caseload focused on humanitarian matters, particularly U-Visa applications
Conduct client intakes, including visits to detention centers
Prepare and file various immigration petitions, including U-Visas and family-based applications
Review immigration application packets and make necessary revisions
Coordinate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding immigration issues
Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients
Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court hearings
Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration matters
Requirements:
1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law
Demonstrated ability to manage and advance legal cases effectively
Prior experience with humanitarian-based immigration applications preferred
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred
Proficient in legal analysis and case strategy development
Experience using immigration case management software is preferred
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders
