Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Immigration Attorney specializing in humanitarian immigration matters to join its team in San Juan, PR. This position offers the chance to work on impactful cases involving U-Visas and other forms of humanitarian relief, while collaborating with an experienced legal team. Location:

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and offer strategic legal solutions to clients

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Manage a caseload focused on humanitarian matters, particularly U-Visa applications

  • Conduct client intakes, including visits to detention centers

  • Prepare and file various immigration petitions, including U-Visas and family-based applications

  • Review immigration application packets and make necessary revisions

  • Coordinate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding immigration issues

  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court hearings

  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration matters

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and advance legal cases effectively

  • Prior experience with humanitarian-based immigration applications preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred

  • Proficient in legal analysis and case strategy development

  • Experience using immigration case management software is preferred

  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders
