Assistant/Associate Professor of Political Science, Law or Legal Studies
The candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching program curriculum in the area of Prelaw/Legal Studies, as well as updating the program by creating new courses. In addition, the position includes a responsibility to teach various courses in the larger area of Political Science. Contractual duties include: conducting scholarly activities in his/her particular field; developing and supervising interns and field experiences in the judicial field; developing classroom simulations such as Moot Court and Mock Trials; directing student research, field projects, professional papers and theses; demonstrating a proficiency in various modes of distance education; advising discipline majors/minors; and performing other related duties as required. Should have a J.D. degree as well as a Ph.D. in either Political Science or Legal Studies. Advanced ABD's within six months of completion of all Ph.D. requirements will be considered. Should preferably have strength in the area of Civil Rights Law. Must have a strong academic background, which includes teaching law-related courses at the university level; a broad exposure to legal reasoning, written and oral arguments, and formal logic; an ability to do scholarly research and proof of that ability with some scholarly publications.
