The candidate will Investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims of varying complexity and severity; Draft coverage position letters; Manage litigation; attend mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials as necessary; Responsible for maintaining cost controls and overseeing the work of outside counsel; Set reserves within prescribed authority and submit written recommendations for reserves outside authority; Frequent interaction with senior management, Corporate Claims, and others, will be required; Comply with applicable company procedures and policies, statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements governing claims handling; Assist in policy drafting / product development and coverage inquiries from underwriters and producers; As directed, may assist Underwriting, Marketing, Risk Management and Loss Prevention with projects, including evaluating potential new business. Participate in new prospect marketing presentations and broker capabilities presentations. Maintain necessary adjuster licenses, including completing required continuing education; Perform other duties as assigned. 3 to 5 years of related experience. Bachelor’s Degree or may possess LLM (Master's of Law) or JD (Juris Doctorate) and current attorney license with 1 -3 years of post-bar experience. Works on moderate to highly complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge in breadth and / or depth within Professional Liability claims, including but not limited to Real Estate Professionals, Accountants, Design Professionals (Architects and Engineers), and Misc. Professionals are required. Must be a highly effective communicator; both verbally and in writing. Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels from across the organization and with external customers and prospects. Extensive use of computers and software programs, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn third-party and proprietary software as required.
