Patent Agent needed for Las Vegas office

Profile

A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent for their Las Vegas office. The successful candidate will work closely with inventors on newly created products, assist in identifying patentable inventions, and draft patent applications. They will also track the patent application process, respond to office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and solve client challenges.

Job Overview:

• Work hand-in-hand with inventors on newly created products
• Assist in the identification of patentable inventions
• Research current patented technologies to best assist clients in patentable work
• Draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team
• Track the patent application process from initial application to granted patent to ensure the team remains on track
• Complete ability searches regularly
• Solve client challenges and respond to client needs
• Respond to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• Consistently meet billable hour requirements

Duties:

• Work closely with inventors on newly created products
• Assist in identifying patentable inventions
• Research current patented technologies
• Draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team
• Track patent application process from initial application to granted patent
• Complete ability searches regularly
• Respond to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• Solve client challenges and respond to client needs
• Assist patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering
• Master’s Degree or PhD desired
• USPTO Registration required
• 3+ years of professional experience
• Backgrounds in electrical engineering or biotechnology
• Prior experience working in the area of patent law
