The role emphasizes ownership of trial work from initial filing through verdict, with support from a collaborative litigation team and access to expert resources. Remote flexibility is offered with required in-state travel for court appearances and firm gatherings.
Act as lead trial attorney in high-stakes cases involving elder neglect, nursing home abuse, and healthcare-related negligence
Manage litigation from discovery through final verdict, including post-trial actions as needed
Draft pleadings, discovery responses, legal briefs, and pre/post-trial motions
Direct and cross-examine witnesses, conduct jury selection, and deliver opening/closing arguments
Develop litigation strategy and case theory based on detailed legal and medical records review
Coordinate with medical experts, life-care planners, economists, and investigators
Maintain clear, empathetic communication with clients throughout the legal process
Collaborate with legal staff including litigation support, co-counsel, and paralegals
Participate in team strategy sessions and litigation planning meetings
Minimum of 3 years of trial-focused legal practice, particularly in personal injury or elder care litigation
Demonstrated success in achieving favorable trial verdicts or significant settlements
Admitted to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing with the SC Bar
Strong litigation skills in both state and federal courts
Self-sufficient in managing a full litigation docket
Passion for justice and advocacy on behalf of injured individuals
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution
Active and current license to practice law in South Carolina
Outstanding oral and written advocacy
Ability to simplify complex medical-legal issues for juries
Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
