Director, Office of Justice for Victims of Overseas Terrorism
Duties: Serves as the Director of the Office of Justice for Victims of Overseas Terrorism (OVT). Responsible for leading, managing and implementing all programs developed to achieve OVT’s mission to support U.S. victims of overseas terrorism by helping them navigate foreign criminal justice systems and by advocating for the their voices to be heard around the world. Responsible for developing and overseeing programs to provide direct services to U.S. citizen victims of overseas terrorism, including providing foreign criminal justice system information and case notifications to victims, advocating for victim attendance and participation in foreign criminal justice systems as permitted by foreign law, and referring victims to U.S. and foreign government and non-government services providers. Provides subject matter expertise to government and non-government organizations delivering international training and technical assistance to encourage recognition of criminal justice system rights for victims of terrorism around the world. Serves as a liaison to other governmental offices in the Justice Department, State Department and other governmental agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of overseas international terrorism cases and the provision of victim assistance to U.S. victims of overseas terrorism.
