Job Overview

A law firm seeks a junior- to mid-level associate to join its Healthcare Privacy and Compliance team in Chicago, IL. The associate will collaborate with regional, national, and global clients in the healthcare industry, providing legal counsel on privacy and compliance matters.

Duties

• Manage incident response for privacy and cyber events, including ransomware and email compromises.
• Assist clients with regulatory investigations under HIPAA and state laws.
• Conduct data security incident response preparedness training and counseling.
• Provide proactive privacy compliance work under HIPAA.
• Offer legal advice on emerging issues like artificial intelligence in healthcare.

Requirements

• Experience in privacy, cybersecurity, or litigation with an interest in healthcare.
• Understanding of healthcare operations and HIPAA compliance.
• Experience with an AmLaw 200 firm or a boutique firm specializing in healthcare law or data privacy.
• Post-law school experience with regulators or as a federal judicial clerk is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

• Relevant certifications in privacy or cybersecurity are advantageous.
