Job Overview: A reputable law firm in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking an experienced Senior Business Litigation Attorney with a proven record in corporate and commercial litigation. This role involves managing high-stakes business disputes in State and Federal courts, as well as handling arbitration and mediation proceedings. The ideal candidate has substantial experience in first-chair litigation, a robust academic foundation, and a skill set attuned to complex commercial matters. This position calls for a dedicated attorney ready to lead cases and mentor junior associates in a collaborative environment.

Duties

• Case Management: Serve as lead attorney on complex commercial litigation cases.
• Legal Research & Analysis: Perform in-depth legal research on multifaceted business disputes, including areas such as contracts, manufacturing, trade secrets, corporate governance, unfair business practices, finance, and commercial real estate.
• Drafting & Document Preparation: Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other essential legal documents.
• Court Appearances: Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Depositions & Witness Preparation: Conduct depositions, defend clients in depositions, and prepare clients and witnesses for trial testimony.
• Legal Compliance: Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines in case management.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior associates and support staff as needed.

Requirements

• Experience: 10 years practicing law with a primary focus on business litigation.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with proven experience interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Strategic Problem Solving: Ability to think strategically and craft innovative legal solutions for complex litigation issues.
• Case Management: Capable of managing multiple cases simultaneously and handling urgent matters with efficiency.
• Written & Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrated ability in drafting persuasive legal documents.
• Professional Standards: High level of professionalism and adherence to ethical standards.
• E-Discovery Proficiency: Competence in e-discovery practices.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• State Bar: Active admission to the California State Bar with a clean disciplinary record.
