Core Tax Services Senior Associate

The candidate will utilize research skills, apply tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gather client information necessary for filing, participate in tax planning, recognize and communicate potential risks, prepare tax accrual workpapers and work with tax software applications to complete tax returns for review. May be charged with supervising and reviewing the work of Core Tax Services Associates. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics OR Bachelor's degree in other focus area and CPA certification are required. A Master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred. CPA certification, attorney (admitted to practice in a US jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) (or the equivalent of one of these designations) is preferred. Should ideally have 2+ years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience. Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties an asset. Prior basic supervisory experience a plus. Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role is ideal. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. Should have experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software. Must be able to follow instructions as directed by members of Tax Team. Should also be able to prepare simple tax returns.
