The candidate assists internal corporate counsel in managing legal claims, lawsuits, and litigation. Advises and consults with managers and departments on legal issues. Educates internal clients on proactive measures and approaches to reduce potential legal exposure. Receives and manages all company legal disputes. Assists internal corporate counsel in providing legal responses, evaluating litigation costs, developing litigation strategies, and supporting the resolution of disputes. Partners with outside counsel on pleadings, discovery, motions, mediations, and trials. Communicates with business associates and provides recommendations on further litigation or settlement. Conducts internal and external investigations. Prepares materials to assist corporate counsel in responding to formal complaints and charges. Develops litigation tools. Oversees the matter management system and ensures activity reporting is presented to senior management. Reviews outside counsel and other vendor invoices and manages deadlines. Solutions require analysis and investigation. Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff. Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines. Preferred: Strong writing skills preferred. Extensive commercial litigation experience preferred. Specialization in business law, real estate law, employee relations law, litigation, general liability, and mergers and acquisitions. Paralegal certification or equivalent experience. B2B experience preferred.
