Duties

  • Handle medical malpractice cases in state and federal courts, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trials.
  • Evaluate and develop case strategy, working with medical experts and client representatives.
  • Conduct depositions of fact witnesses, retaining and preparing expert witnesses.
  • Draft dispositive motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.
  • Negotiate settlements and manage mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Maintain case calendars, monitor statutes of limitations, and ensure compliance with court rules.
  • Provide ongoing client updates and strategic advice on risk management.

Requirements

  • 20 years of civil litigation experience, with a substantial focus on medical malpractice defense.
  • Admission to the Nebraska Bar (active status).
  • Proven track record of handling complex, high-stakes matters from inception through verdict.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines concurrently.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Nebraska Bar admission.
