Duties:
Analyze new case files and establish detailed action plans, budgets, and strategic recommendations
Identify and fulfill pleading requirements; delegate appropriate tasks to paralegals and legal assistants
Draft and respond to discovery, manage document production, and conduct case research
Attend depositions, hearings, and discovery events; draft and submit detailed reports
Negotiate settlements, obtain settlement authority, and prepare cases for trial as needed
Maintain consistent communication with legal support staff to ensure case progress and compliance
Support overall litigation team goals and contribute to a collaborative work environment
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience
Experience in insurance defense litigation strongly preferred
Proven ability to manage complex caseloads independently
Excellent client service, time management, and multitasking capabilities
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the State of North Carolina (required)
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn legal case management systems
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for client, team, and court interactions
Effective legal writing, negotiation, and strategic litigation planning skills
Self-motivated with initiative and the ability to perform well under minimal supervision
