A prominent litigation-focused law firm based in New York City is actively seeking an experienced Family and Matrimonial Law Attorney to join its growing legal team. This role is ideal for a seasoned litigator who thrives in high-conflict, emotionally charged legal environments and is eager to make a meaningful impact on the lives of clients navigating complex personal matters. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, courtroom-ready, and confident, handling sensitive financial and custody issues with discretion and strategic focus.
Manage contested matrimonial and family law cases from inception to resolution
Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including court appearances, motion practice, depositions, and trials
Conduct and oversee financial discovery, net worth statements, and asset/liability analysis
Prepare and argue motions related to equitable distribution, custody, and support
Engage in settlement negotiations and prepare settlement agreements
Draft legal documents, memoranda, and pleadings with strong attention to legal precision
Supervise junior attorneys and guide paralegals and support staff when necessary
Maintain consistent client communication and ensure timely updates on case progress
Current license to practice law in New York State
At least 5 years of experience in contested matrimonial and family law litigation
Demonstrated ability to manage high-conflict cases independently
Proficiency in courtroom procedures, including trial preparation and execution
Strong command of family law principles and financial aspects of divorce
Exceptional research, legal writing, and advocacy skills
Ability to manage a demanding caseload while maintaining attention to detail
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Admission to the New York State Bar (mandatory)
Litigation strategy and trial advocacy
High-level analytical thinking and financial acumen
Emotional intelligence and the ability to manage sensitive client relationships
Leadership and mentoring capabilities
Time management and the ability to meet court and filing deadlines
