Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Plainfield, NJ, is currently seeking a skilled PIP Arbitration Attorney to handle Personal Injury Protection (PIP) arbitration cases. The role involves managing a variety of PIP cases, preparing legal documents, appearing at arbitration hearings, and collaborating with clients and colleagues to develop legal strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in PIP litigation and a strong attention to detail.

Duties:

  • Review new file assignments, approve initial pleadings, propound discovery, and develop case strategies.

  • Examine all evidence documents and review requests.

  • Prepare Rule 16 charts and itemize dates of service and CPT codes in dispute.

  • Draft legal briefs and provide legal analysis.

  • Contact providers to obtain necessary certifications.

  • Prepare for and attend arbitration hearings, review arbitration awards, and file modifications/clarifications.

  • Discuss potential appeals with clients and make legal recommendations.

  • Communicate and collaborate with clients regarding case claims.

  • Conduct court appearances, including hearings, zoom meetings, and conferences.

  • Interact with clients and prepare witnesses for legal proceedings.

  • Provide legal opinions and updates to clients.

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of settlement offers and review of adversary papers.

  • Supervise and manage two legal assistants/paralegals and other attorneys.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Active membership and in good standing with the State Bar Association.

  • Must hold a valid New Jersey law license.

  • 0-5 years of experience in Personal Injury Protection litigation.

  • No Fault and/or Special Investigative Unit (SIU) experience is a plus.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and external parties.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.

  • Ability to manage a substantial caseload effectively.

  • Comfortable working in a team environment alongside attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.

  • Willingness to travel to various courts and offices as necessary.

  • Familiarity with New Jersey PIP laws.

  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to work independently.

  • Experience with case management software, with SmartAdvocate being a plus.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New Jersey State Bar.

Skills:

  • PIP litigation experience.

  • Proficient in legal research, drafting legal documents, and presenting at arbitration hearings.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Experience managing a team and collaborating with various departments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
