A law firm seeks a State & Local Tax Senior Associate in New York City. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in state and local tax law, with a focus on providing strategic tax planning and representation in various jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on state and local tax issues, including personal income tax, corporate income/franchise tax, sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, property tax, and unclaimed property.
• Provide strategic tax planning related to multistate operations.
• Represent clients in audits, administrative appeals, and litigations before state and local tax authorities, administrative appeals agencies, and state courts.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop associates within the State & Local Tax practice group.
• Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development efforts, as appropriate.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.

• Knowledge of state and local tax laws, multistate tax principles, including nexus, apportionment, and combined reporting.
