Assistant General Counsel, Corporate and Healthcare
The candidate serves as a subject matter expert by providing legal advice and interpretation of new legal requirements, as well as applicability to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s business; and providing legal advice and recommendations for action to executives and management regarding matters of increasing complexity that have a sizable financial impact on business activities and operations. Provide legal, public policy, and business counseling with respect to prospective, new, and existing business activities. Analyzes applicable state laws, regulations, and sub-regulatory guidance and advises internal business clients on the corresponding impact upon **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s business and services. Conducts legal research, translates business requirements into plain language, and documents and distributes legal summaries and recommendations for internal business clients. Reviews and drafts legal correspondence, contracts, regulatory submissions, and other legal documents. Establishes and maintains constructive regulatory relationships and represents **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. in proceedings with the regulators. Drafts and reviews legal correspondence, contracts, regulatory submissions, and other legal documents. Serves as a resource to other lawyers on the legal team with respect to matters of state or federal law and regulations. Protects and promotes the interests of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., its patients, and shareholders. Collaborates with other subject matter experts, including, Government Affairs, Privacy, and Compliance. Drafts negotiate, interprets, and enforces contracts and other agreements, including managed care agreements, commercial contracts, and real estate-related contracts and agreements. Ensures awareness and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Proactively identifies arising risk areas and develops risk mitigation solutions. Manages formal and informal claims and litigation. Provides expert, ethical and pragmatic advice on a wide range of matters. Develops the position as a strategic adviser, building engagement with Executive Management and business partners. Other duties as assigned. J.D. Degree required. Must be a member in good standing of the Bar of at least one of the 50 states. Should have in-house or law firm experience supporting health care, professional services, and/or retail clients, strong business acumen, excellent counseling skills, the ability to take a strategic and business-focused approach to complex legal issues, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Health law experience is required. Should have experience in developing policies and experience interacting regularly with senior business leaders; ability to apply legal principles pragmatically in a commercial environment; ability to develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with business partners at all levels across the enterprise as well as with colleagues on the legal team is a must. Strong academic credentials. A significant experience at a large law firm or in-house is preferred. In-house experience at a public company is a significant plus. Should have the ability to develop the position as a strategic adviser, building engagement with Executive Management and business partners. Must be willing to actively engage and dive into projects; ability to be practical and display good business judgment; comfortable working in a fast-paced highly active environment; strong ability to influence, provide a point of view, and listen; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively work with various departments and levels (including senior management) and manage cross-functional teams; ability to maintain confidentiality and properly treat sensitive information; ability to handle ambiguity and juggle many matters at once. Detail and solutions-oriented. Independent and comfortable operating on a semi-autonomous basis.
