Job Overview

A respected law firm in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a dedicated and driven Litigation Associate Attorney to advocate for survivors of sexual abuse. This role involves managing all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment to trial. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to justice and a passion for making a difference in clients' lives.

Duties

• Draft legal documents, including complaints and motions

• Conduct legal research and analyze case law

• Engage in discovery, including drafting and responding to requests

• Take and defend depositions

• Represent clients in court hearings and trials

• Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal teams on complex cases

• Maintain client communications and provide case updates

• Manage a caseload with the opportunity to develop expertise in a specialized legal area

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of civil litigation experience

• Background in plaintiff-side injury litigation is preferred, though candidates with litigation experience in liability cases (e.g., insurance defense) will be considered

• Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously

• Commitment to seeking justice for survivors and handling sensitive matters with empathy and discretion

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland (or eligibility for admission)

Certifications

• Active and in good standing with the Maryland State Bar

Skills

• Exceptional legal research and writing abilities

• Strong negotiation and litigation skills

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities

• Ability to work collaboratively with a team while handling individual responsibilities
