Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation & Real Estate Associate Attorney to support its diverse practice in Providence, Rhode Island. The firm is looking for a skilled legal professional with a well-rounded background in civil litigation and real estate law, including land use matters, corporate disputes, business litigation, receivership cases, and real estate transactions.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment, handling a wide range of cases involving residential and commercial property acquisition, permitting, development, and financing. This is an in-office role based in Providence, RI, with regular weekday hours.

Duties:

  • Manage litigation files related to real estate disputes, land use conflicts, corporate matters, and business-related receivership cases.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and legal memoranda for civil litigation proceedings.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and administrative proceedings tied to real estate development and land use issues.
  • Oversee and assist with transactional matters involving the purchase, sale, financing, and permitting of residential and commercial real estate.
  • Conduct title reviews and resolve complex title defects and related issues.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to clients regarding real estate development, property rights, zoning and permitting challenges, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, municipal officials, and other relevant parties to resolve disputes and advance transactional objectives.
  • Perform legal research to analyze case law, statutes, and regulations applicable to real estate and litigation matters.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of case progress, risks, and potential outcomes.

Requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years of legal experience, with a primary focus on civil litigation and real estate law.
  • Direct experience handling cases involving real estate transactions, land use, corporate disputes, business litigation, and receiverships.
  • Strong understanding of Rhode Island real estate law, civil procedure, and relevant local land use regulations.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a caseload while prioritizing deadlines and client needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and client relations skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Exceptional legal writing, drafting, and research abilities.
  • Detail-oriented approach to case management and transactional work.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Rhode Island (active and in good standing).
  • Admission to practice law in Massachusetts (preferred but not required).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Skilled negotiator and confident advocate in court and administrative hearings.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
