Public Relations and Communications Specialist
The candidate will be responsible for collaborating to develop and execute strategic media/public relations activities for the firm, including press releases, interview opportunities, and by-lined articles. Collaborate and strategize to produce and distribute impactful and forward-thinking press releases and pitches, website and other content, and award submissions. Seek out, evaluate, and facilitate opportunities for article placements, relationship building, interviews, and other activities in appropriate venues. Oversee compilation, review, and distribution of daily media report to firm leadership and others in the department. Collaborate with team members and lawyers to provide PR insight for business development initiatives. Evaluate and update media lists and target publications. Perform quality assurance reviews of press releases and other content to ensure that the firm’s brand is properly represented. Create and nurture relationships with members of the media and make recommendations for relationship-building opportunities. Field, coordinate, and respond to press inquiries on behalf of the firm. Produce public relations reports. Maintain lead role in working with rankings team members on the directory, awards, and submission processes, and promotion. Collaborate with the firm’s outside public relations agency on outreach efforts to maximize efficiencies and ensure content sharing and usage across regions. Keep abreast of technological changes impacting media and public relations and make recommendations for changes. Represent global PR team and assigned regions/ practices on Brand Marketing and Communications and other departmental and operational committees. Participate in and support other projects as needed. Bachelor’s degree in English, communication, marketing, or equivalent work experience required. Experience in professional services or B2B media relations is a plus. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and daily deadlines are a must. Must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred. Should have excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail and knowledge of AP Style; ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and use discretion with sensitive and confidential information; communicate and interact effectively while possessing a strong team orientation; frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as CRM software. Familiarity with media research tools such as Lexis, Westlaw, Cision, Meltwater, etc is a must.
