Job Overview:
An established law firm is seeking a qualified and experienced USPTO-registered Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its Electronics & Software practice team. This position is focused on software-related technologies and offers a full-time opportunity outside the traditional partnership track, with a reduced billable hour requirement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software and related fields, as well as demonstrated proficiency in patent preparation and prosecution. The role supports portfolio development and client counseling for a variety of high-tech industries.

Duties:
Prepare and prosecute U.S. patent applications in the software and technology space
Manage patent portfolios for clients in various technology sectors
Counsel clients on patent strategy, innovation protection, and intellectual property management
Collaborate with a team of attorneys and staff to deliver high-quality legal work
Review invention disclosures and conduct prior art searches
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of USPTO regulations and relevant legal standards
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of experience in U.S. patent prosecution
USPTO Registration Number required
Demonstrated experience in software-related patent matters
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to provide strategic guidance to clients on IP issues
Education:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in one of the following or related fields:
Computer Engineering
Computer Science
Electrical Engineering
Mathematics
Physics
Certifications:
Active USPTO Registration required
State Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preferred)
