A law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal representation to clients facing criminal charges, from initial consultation through trial and appeals. This role requires a deep understanding of criminal law, exceptional research and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate and advocate on behalf of clients effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation for clients in criminal cases, including felonies, misdemeanors, and traffic offenses.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to inform case strategies.
• Prepare and draft legal documents, motions, and pleadings.
• Develop and implement effective defense strategies tailored to each case.
• Represent clients in court for hearings, trials, and appeals.
• Negotiate with prosecutors to achieve favorable plea deals when appropriate.
• Educate clients about their legal rights and the criminal justice process.
• Engage in public speaking and community outreach to inform the public about legal rights and services.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal precedents and relevant laws.
• Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and other team members to ensure comprehensive case management.
• Stay actively involved in relevant legal associations and continue professional development.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Arizona State Bar and in good standing.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in criminal defense law.
• Proven track record of successful trial preparation and courtroom litigation.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Knowledge of immigration-related legal issues is beneficial.
• Active membership in relevant legal associations (e.g., National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers).
• Proficiency in Spanish is required.
