A law firm in the greater Los Angeles area is seeking a skilled Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join its workers’ injury claims team. The ideal candidate will bring between one and six years of relevant courtroom or administrative experience, particularly in representing institutional clients or large entities in workplace injury matters. This role offers a strong opportunity for growth in a collaborative legal environment that values precision, advocacy, and long-term client relationships.
Serve as primary legal counsel on workplace injury matters, focusing on defense representation for employers and insurance entities.
Handle appearances at depositions, hearings, and conferences before administrative law judges or review boards.
Draft comprehensive legal correspondence, including pleadings, position statements, and pre-trial documents.
Conduct investigations into claim backgrounds, medical records, and workplace circumstances to develop strategic defense plans.
Maintain consistent communication with clients, claims representatives, and opposing counsel, ensuring timely updates and strategic recommendations.
Participate in settlement negotiations and mediation conferences as necessary to resolve disputes efficiently.
Collaborate with internal legal teams on complex litigation strategies and ongoing case assessments.
A minimum of 1 year and up to 6 years of experience.
Demonstrated history of defending insurance carriers, third-party administrators, or self-insured employers is highly preferred.
Must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
Strong litigation and advocacy skills with a solid understanding of procedural rules governing administrative and civil forums.
Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills, with an ability to craft clear, persuasive arguments.
High degree of professionalism and client service orientation.
Capacity to manage multiple active matters simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
