A distinguished law firm located in Sacramento, CA is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented legal professional to join its Student Rights & Accessibility legal team. This role involves supporting senior attorneys in advocating for student-related legal matters, particularly those involving accessibility, discrimination, and special education compliance. Ideal candidates will have up to five years of legal experience and a strong foundation in legal writing, analytical thinking, and interpersonal communication.
Assist in representing public educational institutions in legal issues affecting students from preschool through 12th grade
Draft memoranda, legal opinions, and correspondence related to student rights and disability law
Conduct legal research and analysis on federal and state education regulations and case law
Support attorneys in litigation and dispute resolution before administrative bodies and government agencies
Engage in policy interpretation and guide compliance with disability-related statutes
Participate in meetings and strategy sessions with clients and internal legal teams
Contribute to the development of preventative legal strategies for educational entities
0–5 years of legal experience, preferably in education, civil rights, or administrative law
Demonstrated ability to synthesize legal information and present it clearly
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
Willingness to work collaboratively within a team-oriented legal practice
Interest in public education law, disability accommodations, and student advocacy
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active membership in the California State Bar
Exceptional legal research and analytical writing abilities
Familiarity with laws including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to adapt to evolving legal issues and educational policies
Comfortable with administrative procedures and compliance-related documentation
