Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Registered Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property Department in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic team, supporting complex telecommunication, software, and AI technologies. This role offers a hybrid work model, requiring 2-3 days on-site weekly.

Duties

• Draft applications and responses to office actions for US and foreign applications.
• Support attorneys in technical aspects of post-grant proceedings and patent litigation.
• Conduct due diligence, including freedom to operate studies.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice before the USPTO.
• 3 years (6 years preferred) of experience as a registered patent agent.
• Industry experience in technology or engineering companies is a plus.

Education

• Master's or Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related discipline.
• Bachelor's degree with significant industry experience may be considered.

Certifications

• Registered Patent Agent with the USPTO.

Skills

• Proficient in Westlaw, patent-related databases, and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, technical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
