Deputy Research Compliance Officer

Duties: Reporting to the University Research Compliance Officer (“RCO”) for University, will designs, directs, monitors, and improves the Research Compliance Program, a university-wide compliance effort to prevent violations of law and applicable university policies and procedures, and to develop best practices in research activities, specifically in relation to research involving human subjects or vertebrate animals, grants and contracts administration, research misconduct, operations of the Institutional Biosafety Committee, export controls, record retention requirements, and chairing the Research Compliance Operations Committee. Develops or amends and implements research compliance policies and procedures as needed to comply with acceptable standards for research practices or changes in regulations or accrediting body standards. Fosters a university culture of compliance that promotes integrity and ethical behavior in all matters relating to research compliance by increasing awareness of compliance regulation and best practices. Assists the RCO in coordinating research compliance activities with appropriate liaisons throughout the university. Serves as a liaison with the Office of General Counsel (“OGC”) to communicate legal issues and changes in the law or regulation, and consults with staff and faculty on compliance issues. Implements and monitors a research compliance audit plan. Works with the Office of General Counsel and Internal Audit to investigate reports of alleged wrongdoing. Oversees and directs compliance enforcement and appropriate corrective actions. Provides research compliance training to faculty and staff. Performs specific research compliance related duties delegated by the RCO.
