We are currently seeking a Compliance Officer who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.
The Opportunity
You: You stay abreast of new and changing laws, regulations and policies pertaining to higher education, and you have the skills to direct the implementation, monitoring and follow up on necessary changes.
Your mission: Detect, prevent and resolve issues related to conduct that fails to conform to applicable laws, rules and regulations.
A typical day: One day you might design a training module and respond to issues for investigative and/or resolution purposes, and the next day compile a report for the Board of Trustees and analyze new regulations. Monitoring contractor/vendor compliance and helping to create and strengthen internal policies and procedures will also be typical activities for you. Your close collaborators will be staff and leadership in Finance, HRs, Risk Management, Internal Audit and the Office of General Counsel.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree required. Juris Doctor or MBA preferred.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) to three (3) years of compliance experience. Qualifying experience with an educational institution is desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Leadership competencies to include planning and organizing, problem solving, informing, consulting.
Ability to develop reports, policy and procedures.
Excellent research ability and skill that includes researching legislation, policies, rules, regulations, and laws. Knowledge of Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis and other LGL research databases required.
Exemplifies integrity and sound judgment in decision-making; and ability to handle difficult circumstances and conflicts
High level of analytical ability, flexibility, self-motivation, ethics, and human relations skills required
Extensive knowledge of laws, rules and regulations applying to higher education required
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to work as part of a team and independently, excellent organization and problem solving skills, ability to assume initiative required.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with various constituencies, including faculty, staff, senior administrators, and members of a governing board
Possess ability to work in a fast-paced environment, which requires handling multiple tasks at once
