Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA, is seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The Criminal Defense Attorney will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and manage their caseload, providing legal representation to clients at pretrial hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings. Strong interpersonal skills and experience handling complex criminal cases are essential for success in this role.

Duties:

• Manage caseload and client interaction under the guidance of the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney.
• Collaborate with the Criminal Defense Team of Attorneys and legal assistants.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their case.
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and advise clients on the best strategies following each hearing.
• Manage court appearances, trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and conducting legal research.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
• Provide legal analysis to clients to determine possible case benefits.
• Gather additional evidence to support clients' cases or arguments against prosecution charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and determine essential goals of case strategy.
• Interview witnesses and important experts to gather information supporting clients' positions.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Experience handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
