A law firm seeks an experienced Of Counsel attorney to manage and support intellectual property litigation matters in Summit, NJ. The attorney will work independently and collaboratively with clients and firm partners.

Duties

  • Manage and participate in intellectual property litigation in federal and state courts.
  • Handle disputes involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade dress, and unfair competition.
  • Develop case strategies with clients and firm leadership.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses.
  • Manage discovery, document production, and depositions.
  • Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Coordinate with experts, local counsel, and litigation team members.
  • Communicate with clients regarding strategy and case developments.
  • Supervise and mentor associates and litigation-support personnel.
  • Support client development and the firm's litigation practice growth.
  • Maintain accurate time entries and case-management information.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • At least five years of substantive litigation experience.
  • Experience in intellectual property litigation preferred.
  • Admission to the New York and/or New Jersey Bar preferred.
  • Admission to federal district courts in New York or New Jersey preferred.
  • USPTO registration is helpful but not required.
  • Experience managing cases, discovery, and motion practice.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Sound professional judgment and ability to work independently.
  • Strong client-service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a growing law-firm environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
