Industry Analyst – Energy & Natural Resources
The candidate will monitor industry related activity, articles, financial indicators and regulation, reporting to the group Partners with concise action-oriented summaries that identify potential opportunities for growth. Apply a legal and business development lens to research, looking for opportunities and issues that relate to Reed Smith’s strategic growth priorities as well as clients. Analyze or monitor what industry leading clients are doing strategically and investor community sentiment. Analyze clients against measurable criteria, such as growth in market share, or intangible factors, such as reputation for innovation. Participate in industry strategic planning meetings to help develop long-term strategies that will benefit the firm. Provide advice on how to differentiate the services through market insight and data in order to reach specific audiences or demographics. Identify trends in technology, regulations, and other factors that could influence the industry. Produce monthly/quarterly/regular analysis highlighting trends and industry “talking points” for RS lawyers. Apply a legal sector/RS “lens” to the analysis to identify new “products” or “pivots” to sell to the clients and targets. Produce a ½ yearly/annual industry trends/analysis looking around corners/forecast report for RS lawyers/clients/targets. Real-time action oriented and digestible partner updates. Practice and Industry Group presentations. Ghost-writing publicly available blogs and articles for partners. Present findings at industry conferences or via online seminars. Build relationships of trust with partners, clients and key industry players. Build a community of practice with adjacent industry group analysts, Business Development and the Strategy Team. MBA/JD is preferred. In-house Industry specific analysis experience is required. Experience working as a journalist, writer or blogger is seen as preferred.
