Legal Aid II - SOS
The candidate conducts research for agency attorneys; reviews, studies, searches, and annotates laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs and related legal authorities. Analyze and prepare draft responses to tort claims. Analyze discovery requests and prepare responses for inmate class action litigation. Analyze discovery requests and prepare responses in employee grievance administrative proceedings. Writes memorandums relating to areas researched. Prepares legal files and/or documents and/or correspondence. Represents agency in administrative hearings under supervision of a licensed agency attorney pursuant to Certified Senior Law Student Rule. Should have knowledge of: legal research methods and case analysis; drafting bills and amendments; filing and record keeping methods. Must have skill in: legal research and writing legal analysis and documents. Current enrollment at a law school (approved by the American Bar Association) with completion of legal studies sufficient to have attained senior standing is required. Should possess strong organizational and communication skills, be self motivated, and have the ability to work under pressure. Must be enrolled in an accredited law school and a student in good standing.
