Title IX Coordinator and Director of Disability Services
Duties: Administrative oversight over: As Title IX Coordinator: Conducts investigative plan for Title IX complaints, to include: establishment of a fair, neutral, and timely investigation procedure; monitoring outcomes, identifying and addressing any patterns and addressing effects on campus climate; write summary reports of investigations with findings and recommendations consistent with University policies and procedures. Provide leadership and training to staff to serve as investigators, as appropriate and needed. Provide ongoing updates to the disciplinary procedure for sexual misconduct. Continuously identify and integrate best practices in the Title IX investigation arena into knowledge base and practice. Advocate for improvements in the investigatory process. Review and make the appropriate recommendations to ensure that the University’s policies, procedures, protocols and practices are in compliance with Title IX regulations. Develop and disseminate educational materials and in-service training tailored to faculty, staff and students. Collaborate with other campus office, as needed, to coordinate and execute in a timely manner the University’s response and investigation of complaints as pursuant to Title IX. Stay abreast of regulations and statues relating to gender based violence including, but not limited to, Title IX and VAWA. Act as University representative when attending conferences and communicating with federal government compliance or investigation officers. Refer resources to faculty, staff, and students who could benefit from supplementary support during the investigation. Serve as University advisor on Title IX requirements and compliance and provide consultation to senior officers as necessary. Serve on University and community committees as assigned by the University. Oversee all personnel assigned to office. As Director of Disability Services: Analyze and interpret disability-related documentation to determine eligibility for services and accommodations for students with disabilities. Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of appropriate academic support services and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as amended, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and any related University policies and/or procedures. Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of retention, graduation, and career programs for students with disabilities including cross-departmental collaboration and program development. Advise students with disabilities regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as amended, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and any related University policies and/or procedures. Serve as an advocate and liaison between students and campus departments to facilitate participation in University programs. Provide referrals to various on-campus and off-campus agencies. As appropriate, coordinate with the treating health/mental health professional to support the academic achievement of students with disabilities. Perform crisis intervention, management, analysis, resolution and determination of appropriate referrals as necessary for students in distress and other crises. Maintain the development and update of policies, procedures, and informational materials related to students with disabilities. Provide consultation and outreach to faculty, staff, and students, local and statewide agencies. Maintain the development, implementation, and assessment of the department strategic plan and disability awareness strategic plan. Serve on committees as appropriate. Plan, monitor, and maintain current descriptive data of students’ eligibility qualifications and academic need. Plan, monitor, and evaluate all components of the program; act as the liaison person between department chairpersons and their faculty to promote Disability Services. Select and hire all personnel for the program. Plan, conduct, and evaluate staff in-service training sessions. Develop orientation and public relations materials to present to the campus and off-campus community. Refer Disability Services students to other campus and off-campus agencies for supplementary supportive services as required. Attend state, local, and regional professional conferences and meetings. Review program files for completeness and accuracy.
