Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate in Newport News, VA. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team, contributing to various litigation matters in both General District Court and Circuit Court. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong legal acumen and a commitment to excellence.

Duties

• Prepare court pleadings, including drafting motions and responses.
• File and answer discovery requests in General District Court and Circuit Court.
• Research and draft memoranda of law and briefs.
• Participate in pretrial and trial hearings.
• Prepare attorneys and clients for trials and depositions.
• Assist in the preparation of appeal briefs and responses.

Requirements

• Litigation experience preferred.
• Superb research and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational and matter management skills.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Connection to the Hampton Roads area preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school with an outstanding academic record.

Certifications

• Admission to the Virginia Bar.
• Must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in the State of Virginia.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently.
