Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney with a strong background in asbestos-related cases. This role involves overseeing all phases of litigation, from case intake and investigation to trial preparation and courtroom representation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing complex litigation matters efficiently. This position offers flexibility to work remotely if not based in New York or Houston.

Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of asbestos litigation cases, including initial case assessment and investigation.

  • Conduct discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, document requests, and depositions.

  • Prepare for and represent clients in court hearings, pre-trial conferences, and trials.

  • Develop case strategies, analyze evidence, and provide legal counsel to clients.

  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and other legal professionals to strengthen case arguments.

  • Manage legal filings and ensure compliance with all court deadlines.

  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and guidance throughout the legal process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in asbestos litigation or related practice areas.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws governing toxic tort litigation.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently and work within a team structure.

  • Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.

  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting complex legal documents.

  • Willingness to travel for court appearances and depositions as needed.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the state bar where practicing.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
