Job Overview:

A respected law firm based in Miami, FL, seeks a dedicated and experienced legal professional to serve as a Veterans Benefits Attorney and Team Lead. This pivotal role involves leading a team focused on assisting veterans and their families in navigating the legal system to secure the benefits they’ve earned. Ideal candidates are deeply committed to advocacy, experienced in veterans’ law, and skilled at managing both people and cases with empathy and precision.

Duties:

• Guide and manage a team of paralegals in support of veteran-focused legal matters

• Act as the primary legal advisor and contact for veteran clients throughout the claims process

• Represent clients before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA) and in informal VA proceedings

• Provide case-specific legal strategies to clients and internal team members

• Draft legal submissions and documentation related to veterans' claims

• Conduct initial consultations with prospective veteran clients to assess their legal needs

• Ensure accurate and organized recordkeeping for client files

• Collaborate with senior attorneys and administrative staff to advance case progress

• Contribute to business development through writing, presentations, and public speaking as assigned

Requirements:

• Accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as a qualified attorney

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in handling Veterans Benefits claims

• Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and support legal staff or paralegal teams

• Strong proficiency in legal research, analysis, and document preparation

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Must be a VA-accredited attorney

• Active Bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction (Florida preferred)

Skills:

• Litigation advocacy, particularly before administrative tribunals

• Legal drafting and case documentation

• Team leadership and staff development

• Strategic legal analysis and client advisement

• Public speaking and professional writing for outreach
