Duties

• Meet with clients to understand legal needs and explain issues and outcomes.
• Manage personal caseload with staff support.
• Research relevant case law and statutes.
• Prepare legal documents, including motions, orders, and settlements.
• Attend hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel or pro per parties.
• Prepare for trials, including drafting examinations and trial briefs.

Requirements

• Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan or ability to obtain quickly.
• 1-5 years of family law experience preferred.
• Ability to learn necessary skills for family law success.
• Adaptable team player with a growth mindset.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law, or pending admittance, in Michigan.
