COBB: Poultry Farm Worker

Location: University of Arkansas Breeder Farm 14930 White Oak Rd Fayetteville, AR 72704

Schedule: Tuesday thru Saturday

Hours: 6:45 am to 2:45 pm , including holidays. Averaging at least 40 hours a week.

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Must Reside within one of the following counties to be considered: Arkansas – Benton or Washington County

Starting Wage: $15.45 per hour. Plus, additional shift differentials for evening; nights and weekends.

Position Summary:

Attends to and cares for chicks in brooding houses, provides general farm labor to clean, disinfect and prepares housing, moves and vaccinates birds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Adjusts controls to regulate temperature, humidity and lighting according to flock management instructions. Cleans and disinfects waterers and pens and performs routine housekeeping duties. Examines chicks for signs of illness and treats them according to instructions. Transfers birds between pens as instructed. Records information according to instructions such as genealogy, bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality. Occasionally helps gather eggs in the laying house. (70%)

Places birds according to line, age of source, and sex as instructed (10%)

Performs sample testing on birds (10%)

These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Such as: Provides general farm labor to clean, disinfect and prepare housing for flock placement. Feeds and waters chicks according to schedules. Vaccinates and isolates birds to effect disease control. Minor repairs on pens and equipment (feeders, waterers, lights, fans, etc.). Disposes of dead birds as instructed. Clean office and breakroom and complete laundry duty. (10%)

Mask policy will be in accordance with any local, state, or federal requirements but will be provided to any Team Member wishing to wear a mask. Training will be provided to each Team Member specific to their job and their facility location in addition to signing an acknowledgement form they understand these expectations.

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift up to 30 pounds. May be required to occasionally lift to 50 pounds. Must regularly push or pull up to 500 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

Tools and Equipment: Requires use of hand tools such as box knives, wire cutters, pliers, wrenches, broom, squeegee, shovel, counter, vaccination gun, stick needle, eye drop bottle; power tools such as cordless/corded drill, gas powered blower; equipment such as lawn mower, gas powered power washer, catch-frames, scales, tables, scanners, extension cords, coops; safe operation of vehicle to and from work area.

Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments. Heavy exposure to corn and soy dust.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety Glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, ear plugs, and rubber boots are required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. Must wear a company provided facial covering.

Chemicals Commonly Used: Herbicides, Pesticides and Disinfectants.

Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

**This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex. Priority consideration will be provided to these applicants first. If local Team Members are not selected, Team Members from other locations or external applicants will then be reviewed for consideration.
