Profile

A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent for their San Francisco, CA office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biophysics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or AI/ML.

Job Overview:

The Patent Agent will draft patent applications and other legal documents, coordinate with inventors and clients, conduct prior art searches, and stay updated with patent laws.

Duties:

• Drafting patent applications and legal documents throughout all stages of patent prosecution with the USPTO and foreign patent offices.
• Taking invention disclosures and coordinating with inventors and clients.
• Conducting and analyzing results of prior art searches.
• Maintaining knowledge of the latest patent laws to assist clients with drafting legal documents.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in biophysics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or AI/ML (advanced degree preferred).
• 3 years of experience as a registered Patent Agent, with 5+ years preferred.
• Experience managing clients as a first point of contact.

Skills:

• Proficiency in legal research and writing.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Familiarity with patent prosecution processes and USPTO regulations.
