A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Independence, Ohio. The role involves managing legal matters in Elder Law, Special Needs Planning, Estate Planning, Probate, and Public Benefits.

Duties

• Manage client legal matters, including advising and preparing estate planning documents for older adults and families of individuals with disabilities.
• Counsel clients on public benefits eligibility and implement plans to achieve eligibility.
• Advise on and handle guardianship and probate matters.
• Maintain regular contact with clients, courts, and institutions.
• Effectively manage support staff.
• Collaborate with the Bookkeeper to manage financial tasks.
• Prepare and file federal and state taxes related to guardianship, trust, and estate, or coordinate with an Accountant.
• Engage in individual and firm-wide marketing initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• License to practice law in Ohio and in current good standing.
• Experience in a law firm setting in Elder Law, Special Needs Planning, Estate Planning, Probate, and Public Benefits.
• Excellent communication, analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
• Strong computer skills; experience with Practice Master or TABS is a plus.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• License to practice law in Ohio.
