Provides practical guidance with a focus on identifying and solving problems. Reviews, prepares, and negotiates contracts and agreements. Oversees outside counsel, manages matter budgets and communicates with internal stakeholders. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Develops and approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Assists Enterprise Managing Counsel and the Enterprise Chief Legal Officer in operationalizing legal strategy by legal specialization. Takes continuous steps to maintain awareness of legal developments, particularly within designated areas of practice. Performs tasks and projects as assigned by Enterprise Managing Counsel and the Enterprise Chief Legal Officer. Excellent analytical and reasoning skills. Ability to handle stress and multiple stimuli. Ability to speak and present complex materials for long periods. Ability to use computerized and other technologies to effectively and efficiently perform essential job functions. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Admittance to the Bar of at least one state (preferably North Carolina). At least 3 years experience in a law firm, private practice or corporate legal function required. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.
