The firm represents clients throughout the Inland Empire in a range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, and domestic violence proceedings.

This is not a volume-based environment. The practice emphasizes strategic case development, strong courtroom advocacy, and disciplined litigation, often involving high-conflict and emotionally sensitive matters that require precision, professionalism, and sound judgment.

This opportunity is well-suited for an attorney who is detail-oriented, motivated to build litigation expertise in family law, and interested in long-term professional growth within a structured and mentorship-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Court Appearances

  • Handle hearings such as Case Management Conferences, Requests for Orders (RFOs), custody and support hearings, and status conferences
  • Appear regularly in court (in-person and remote), particularly in family law proceedings
  • Manage appearances related to domestic violence restraining orders (DVROs) and other urgent matters

Legal Writing & Research

  • Draft and respond to motions, declarations, oppositions, and pleadings specific to family law matters
  • Prepare legal memoranda and support case strategy development
  • Analyze statutes and case law relevant to California family law

Discovery & Case Management

  • Propound and respond to discovery in family law cases
  • Review financial disclosures, custody-related evidence, and supporting documentation
  • Meet and confer with opposing counsel to resolve disputes
  • Assist with motions to compel and other discovery-related proceedings

Client & Case Support

  • Communicate with clients regarding case updates, expectations, and procedural steps
  • Assist in case evaluation, including review of financials and custody considerations
  • Work closely with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case progression
  • Maintain sensitivity and professionalism when handling emotionally charged client matters

Litigation Development

  • Support trial preparation, including exhibit organization and witness preparation
  • Participate in evidentiary hearings and gain hands-on courtroom experience
  • Develop advocacy skills through direct involvement in family law litigation

Performance Expectations

  • Maintain a monthly billable target of approximately 140 hours
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality legal work
  • Demonstrate professionalism in both client interactions and court appearances
  • Effectively manage multiple family law cases in a deadline-driven environment

Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California State Bar
  • 1–5 years of legal experience
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in family law (divorce, custody, support, DVROs)
  • Litigation experience in California courts
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Comfortable handling sensitive and high-conflict cases
  • Coachable and receptive to feedback
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, litigation-focused environment
  • Interested in developing courtroom presence and advocacy skills
