Job Overview:
A boutique litigation firm located in Manhattan's Financial District is seeking a full-time Trial & Appellate Attorney to support its growing portfolio of complex real estate litigation matters. This position involves active participation in all stages of trial and appellate litigation, including legal research, motion practice, discovery coordination, and courtroom appearances. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in civil procedure, persuasive writing skills, and a commitment to client service.

Duties:
Organize and maintain client case files, calendars, and deadlines
Conduct legal research and draft persuasive documents including pleadings, motions, and memoranda
Maintain client communication regarding case progress, legal strategy, and cost considerations
Prepare trial materials including trial notebooks, exhibits, and case analysis
Coordinate discovery, investigative activities, and document production
Strategize and negotiate civil settlements
Track and meet billable hour expectations
Assist in appellate brief writing and court filings
Ensure compliance with applicable trial and court rules
Requirements:
1–2 years of experience drafting legal pleadings or motion papers
Understanding of New York Civil Practice Law and Rules
Proficiency in legal research and case analysis
Strong organizational and time management skills
Punctuality in court appearances, work performance, and deadlines
Prior internship or externship experience preferred
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to New York State Courts (required)
Willingness to obtain admission to Federal District Courts within 18 months of hire
Skills:
Legal research and drafting
Knowledge of procedural rules in both trial and appellate courts
Strong written and oral advocacy
Client relationship management
Use of modern legal software and database systems
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex cases
