UCSP’s vision is to enrich the experience of the students, staff and wider community. We aim to create a financially sustainable and professional service, which currently includes Early Years Education and Care, Retail Catering, Hospitality and Events. We are looking to recruit an individual to an Enhanced Unit Lead role based at ‘The Bistro’ at Plymouth Science Park, a vibrant and thriving community located in the North of the city, near Derriford Hospital. We are excited to start a new and exciting venture between UCSP Ltd, The University of Plymouth and Plymouth Science Park to open and operate a café in a unique setting serving local, fresh and sustainable produce. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join the company and take on the running of a new and exciting café. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the unit as well as line management responsibility of the catering assistants and chef’s within it. With experience of working in a catering or retail environment, you will drive sales in line with the business plan and lead the unit in a calm and positive way whilst providing exceptional customer service. We offer increased annual leave and sickness benefits with length of service and employer pension contributions of 5%. This is a full-time position working 37 hours a week, for 52 weeks a year on a permanent basis. You will have experience of working in a customer service environment, and have routine administration and financial understanding. A customer-focussed mind-set is essential and a drive to deliver on and exceed students, staff and visitor’s expectations. A flexible approach to hours and work is essential, as is adaptability and the ability, whilst maintaining high standards and all times. You should be able to demonstrate that you have: Effective verbal and written communication skills Experience in managing other staff members Able to work alone or as part of a team Ability to cope under pressure, in a calm and efficient manner Previous sales experience in a similar environment Good interpersonal skills Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.
