Duties

  • Manage an active family law caseload, ensuring timely action and compliance with deadlines.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to paralegals.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including:
    • Original petitions.
    • Answers and counterpetitions.
    • Pre-trial discovery.
  • Represent clients as lead counsel in bench and jury trials.
  • Attend case-related proceedings such as mediations, depositions, and hearings.
  • File post-judgment motions, bills of review, and appeals.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the family law department.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to team strategy.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members and handle corrective actions as necessary.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, attorneys, court staff, and judicial officers.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
  • 2–3 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in family law.
  • Demonstrated trial advocacy skills and litigation experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and planning abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work schedules.
  • A strong work ethic, accountability, and excellent attendance.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
