Senior Counsel, Global Policy and International Trade
The candidate will be responsible for identifying and analyzing relevant international trade law and global policy developments that impact ESA members and developing and driving the implementation of comprehensive strategies to advance policy priorities on identified international trade and related issues. Identify, monitor, and analyze international trade legislation, regulations, proposals, and negotiations that present opportunities or challenges to promoting the growth of the video game industry in key markets. Advise ESA and its members on U.S. trade laws and related proposals that are relevant to the video game industry. Help drive the development of ESA’s trade and market access-related policy priorities and related strategies. Represent ESA in trade-related coalitions, associations, and meetings related to international trade and foreign barriers to trade. Support ESA’s Government Affairs team’s legislative advocacy involving trade-related legislation and related global priorities. Work collaboratively with ESA’s legal team members, IP Protection and Security team, and government affairs and communications teams to ensure alignment on policy priorities, advocacy, and messaging. Should have a law degree from an ABA accredited institution plus a minimum of seven years of relevant experience working on global policy, international trade, and market access issues, including some combination of private practice, in-house, government, or trade association experience. ESA is seeking individuals with strong consensus-building skills and an ability to communicate complex legal and policy issues. Familiarity with intellectual property protection and enforcement, digital trade, international privacy regimes, and technical barriers to trade is strongly preferred.
