Compliance Counsel - International Trade Compliance
The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of global trade compliance program, providing advice, oversight, and governance on a wide range of complex legal and business issues related to sanctions and export controls. Will report to the Director, Compliance Legal who leads our Investigations and Trade Compliance programs. You will work closely with Compliance team, Legal colleagues, control and support functions, and business leaders across the organization. Also be responsible for contributing to our team's objective of continuing to develop our compliance culture and to embed integrity and compliance initiatives as Firm’s grows. Day to day operations of Firm’s trade compliance program (focusing on sanctions and export controls), including policy and process enhancements, education and communication, monitoring and auditing screening activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining ECCN product classification. Develop and implement a trade compliance training plan, working in close coordination with other members of the Compliance team, to support awareness and drive compliance across Firm’s. Provide effective, practical, and timely Trade Compliance legal advice and guidance. Develop a deep understanding of Firm’s business and product roadmaps to meaningfully engage with the business, counsel on risk, and engage appropriately on projects that could implicate trade compliance concerns. Partner with relevant functions to and operationalize the policies and principles to ensure compliance with applicable law. Conduct periodic assessments of risk associated with trade compliance, including development and oversight of the implementation of any control enhancements or remediation. Conduct program focused due diligence for new business opportunities and acquisitions. Ensure the Compliance team and key stakeholders are advised on updates and associated risks arising from regulatory and trade-related developments.
