A San Jose, CA law firm seeks a dedicated Family Law Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This position is tailored for a mid- to senior-level associate with a passion for navigating the complexities of family law. The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience in family law matters, a proven ability to manage cases independently, and a talent for building strong client relationships. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation across various family law matters, including divorce, custody disputes, support agreements, and property division.
  • Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, settlement conferences, and other legal proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery materials.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of legal and factual issues, anticipating potential challenges and proposing effective strategies.
  • Lead or actively participate in settlement negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Collaborate closely with other attorneys within the family law practice group to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Manage client relationships, ensuring clear communication and consistent updates on case progress.
  • Travel periodically between the firm's offices to attend meetings or court appearances as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience: 4-7 years of legal practice, with at least 4 years of substantive family law experience in a private law firm setting.
  • Bar Membership: Active membership in the State Bar of California is required.
  • Legal Expertise: Demonstrated ability to handle family law cases from start to finish, including court representation, mediation, drafting legal documents, and discovery.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a proven track record of success in court presentations.
  • Research Skills: Strong legal and investigative research capabilities to support case strategy and preparation.
  • Client Management: Prior experience managing client matters independently (with supervision) and maintaining clear, professional communication with clients.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues proactively and recommend practical next steps tailored to each case.
  • Collaboration: A team-oriented mindset and willingness to work closely with colleagues to achieve the best results for clients.
  • Academic Background: Strong academic credentials showcasing a commitment to legal excellence.
