Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to intellectual property issues.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Manage global patent prosecution and portfolio activities.
  • Provide legal advice on the freedom to operate and patent clearance matters.
  • Negotiate and draft licensing agreements and other technology transactions.
  • Conduct due diligence in support of mergers and acquisitions.

Requirements:

  • Registered with the USPTO.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-14 years of experience.
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Proficient legal writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Superior judgment in legal matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Articulate legal strategies and courses of action effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in the state of Texas (TX).

Skills:

  • Proficient in patent prosecution and portfolio management.
  • Knowledge of freedom to operate and patent clearance issues.
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting licensing agreements.
  • Familiarity with technology transactions.
  • Due diligence expertise related to mergers and acquisitions.
