Job Title: Settlements Attorney
Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Pre-Litigation Settlements Attorney through a legal recruitment agency. This role focuses on managing personal injury claims before litigation, including reviewing case viability, engaging in negotiations, and supporting clients through the pre-litigation process. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, be highly organized, and have a track record of successful settlement negotiations in personal injury matters.
Duties:
Evaluate new personal injury cases for viability and estimated claim value
Collaborate with case managers to analyze records such as police reports, medical files, and other relevant documentation
Conduct detailed investigations by interviewing clients, witnesses, and subject-matter experts
Maintain consistent communication with clients to provide updates, explain legal options, and guide them through the claims process
Initiate and manage settlement discussions with insurance representatives and opposing parties
Draft legal correspondence, including settlement demands and negotiation communications
Track key legal deadlines and ensure pre-litigation compliance
Organize and maintain accurate case files in collaboration with legal support teams
Stay current with trends and developments in personal injury law and insurance negotiation practices
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in personal injury law, specifically in pre-litigation case handling
Demonstrated success in settlement negotiation with insurance providers
Active license in good standing with the State Bar
Proven ability to manage a large caseload efficiently and meet tight deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
High level of professionalism and empathy in client-facing situations
Previous experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume legal setting
Familiarity with legal practice management software (e.g., FileVine)
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active State Bar membership in good standing
