Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Junior Associate in Washington, DC. This role involves collaborating with partners and colleagues on high-value, complex international arbitration cases, including disputes involving transnational commercial contracts and international investment treaties across multiple jurisdictions.

Duties

• Assist partners with advising and representing clients in commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration, and public international law matters.
• Conduct research, gather evidence, and review documents.
• Draft advice, correspondence, and pleadings.
• Prepare witness and expert evidence.
• Liaise with clients, witnesses, experts, tribunals, and opposing counsel.

Requirements

• US attorney qualification; status as an attorney in good standing with the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility to be sworn in upon employment.
• Professional experience or significant academic training in high-value, complex international investment and/or commercial arbitration.
• Strong dispute resolution technical skills and experience with principal international arbitration rules.
• Desire to practice as a specialist arbitration lawyer and develop advocacy skills.
• Excellent academic background; US JD educated.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia or eligible for admission.

• Strong understanding of contract and treaty arbitration law and practice.
