Job Overview:
A Houston-based law firm is seeking a driven and detail-oriented litigation associate with hands-on experience in civil procedures to support a growing insurance litigation team. This role involves handling a wide range of matters for national insurance clients, with opportunities to expand trial-readiness and advocacy skills across complex coverage issues. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive mindset, strong writing abilities, and a demonstrated ability to manage caseloads independently while working as part of a collaborative legal team.

Duties:

• Analyze complex insurance claims and related litigation risks

• Draft responsive pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

• Prepare and deliver comprehensive client reports

• Develop a legal strategy aligned with client objectives

• Conduct extensive legal research across jurisdictional lines

• Oversee discovery efforts, including managing document production

• Take and defend depositions

• Represent clients at court hearings and assist in trial preparation

• Collaborate with partners and team members on litigation milestones

Requirements:

• Civil litigation experience

• Familiarity with insurance defense or insurance coverage litigation

• Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and case management

• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in team settings

• Proficiency in handling pretrial matters through trial preparation

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and analytical writing abilities

• Clear and persuasive oral communication

• Effective time and case management skills
